When it comes to home decor, some choices are artistic and some are practical. Choosing an abstract large metal art over a traditional metal wall decor is a matter of personal preference. Choosing a good washer and dryer to fit your laundry room needs is a matter of practical importance. Every family has slightly different needs, so there isn't really a "one size fits all" rule when choosing washers and dryers. By taking a little time and considering your own specific needs and preferences, you will be better prepared to make a good choice that you will be happy with.

Choosing the Correct Washer and Dryer Size

Capacity can be important when choosing a washer and dryer. If you have a large family, you want to make sure to select a large capacity washer and dryer that will match your usage habits. Otherwise, you will waste both time and energy by doing multiple smaller loads of laundry when one larger load would suffice. On the other hand, if you live alone or have a small family, choosing a large capacity washer and dryer would be overkill. Keep your everyday, normal usage in mind when choosing a size. Although you might need an extra large capacity washer once or twice a season for large blankets and king size bed comforters, you don't usually need this size on most days. Instead, use an extra-large capacity washer at the Laundromat for occasional needs and choose a home washer and dryer sized to fit your everyday needs.

Take Laundry Room Size into Consideration

In addition to the size of your family and the amount of laundry you generate on a regular basis, you will also need to take the size constraints of your laundry room into consideration. Although most laundry rooms are designed to accommodate standard sized washer and dryer units, you might have a closet laundry room or other type of compact laundry are that has less available space. In some cases, stackable washer and dryer units can be a big help. Washer and dryers that stack take up a very small footprint of floor space, and can be quite handy in compact laundry rooms or closet laundry facilities. . Of course, when selecting a dryer, you will also need to choose either electric or gas, depending on what type of dryer hook-up exists in your laundry room.

Take Special Needs into Consideration

There are many different features available on washers and dryers that you can really make doing your family's laundry much easier. For example, if you commonly wash a lot of sweaters and clothing items that need to be laid flat to dry, you might want to consider newer styles of dryers that include drying racks. Some styles of washers and dryers are more full-featured than others in regards to temperature and cycle settings, so take your clothing needs into consideration when shopping for a washer and dryer. Additionally, it can be helpful to take your physical needs into consideration. If you have problems stooping over, for example, choose a washer that loads from the top, or choose a front-loading washer and dryer set with stands that raise the units up higher for easier access.
